Ipswich vs Liverpool, Friday 8pm, live on Sky Sports

Liverpool could become the first club in history to have three £100m+ players on the pitch at the same time. That frightening statistic is playing a part on why they are as short as 1/2 with Sky Bet to break a run of six games without a win across the two seasons.

This is a packed squad, full of talent, but one that looks uncomfortable trying to implement Andoni Iraola’s style. Nottingham Forest created 2.3 worth of expected goals at Anfield last weekend – the third-highest total a team has amassed in the last 77 Premier League home games. It makes them uneasy favourites on Friday night.

For a betting angle, eyes should be drawn to Leif Davis, who is 4/1 with Sky Bet to score or assist.

The flying full-back is playing almost as the left winger in this system, scoring at Manchester United to add to his two goals in pre-season. His assist capabilities are also very noteworthy – possessing a wand of a left foot, Davis has registered 21 assists in the last two Championship campaigns.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth, Saturday 12.30pm

This could be a very fun game involving two managers who like to play fast, vertical football. Anthony Elanga looks a different player under Matthias Jaissle playing this style. His confidence is sky high and when he’s in full flow he is such a weapon for a team that like to play direct balls – as seen by his goals against Liverpool and Spurs.

He’s not always reliable in front of goal but is capable of these types of goalscoring streaks, so the 100/30 with Sky Bet on him to score again has potential.

Brentford vs Sunderland, Saturday 3pm

Brentford have been arguably the most impressive Premier League team after two games.

The level of performance they put up in the win over Tottenham and draw at Leeds gives us some evidence to conclude that their process has improved since last season. This was on show in the first 60 minutes against Leeds where they were outstanding.

They created the most shots (15) and touches in the opposition box (31) any away team at Elland Road has produced in the opening 60 minutes since the start of last season.

Sunderland are difficult to make a case for, especially playing away from home where they have amassed an expected goals difference per 90 of -0.8 since the start of last season. Relegated West Ham and Wolves had better numbers than that.

To boost the Brentford win price, they’ve scored six goals in their three games in all competitions this season, being in front at the break in all three of them. I’m happy to back a repeat for Brentford to be winning at half-time and full-time at 6/4 with Sky Bet.

Brighton vs Leeds, Saturday 3pm

Yankuba Minteh, Jack Hinshelwood, Kaoru Mitoma, Georginio Rutter and Mats Wieffer all could be missing for Brighton. It’s why they’ve been weak in the betting in the build-up to this one.

Since Daniel Farke switched to a back three in December, Leeds have been very comfortable defending away from home and taking a very conservative approach to first halves.

Not many goals are being scored to the extent that five of their last six away games have been 0-0 at half time. The 7/4 with Sky Bet for another 0-0 at the break is a runner.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace, Saturday 3pm

There is lots of volatility from a prediction point of view for this encounter which has become a big match for both managers as they look to get their campaigns moving in the right direction.

Palace have lost the defensive identity that made them so successful under Oliver Glasner, while the attacking improvements have not yet materialised consistently. Fulham fans are already frustrated with Alvaro Arbeola after their timid showing at Sunderland. A low-scoring draw it is.

Manchester City vs Coventry, Saturday 3pm

Manchester City were like clockwork in these types of spots under Pep Guardiola. Normally victories over newly-promoted teams are achieved with minimal fuss, meaning those looking to add a City win to their weekend accumulators shouldn’t have too many sweaty moments.

Rayan Cherki at 5/6 with Sky Bet for another assist will be popular. The French maestro is averaging 0.45 assists per 90 since the start of last season – a ratio hotter than Bruno Fernandes. In a game where City are expected to score three goals, backing Cherki is the way smarter way to back a pro-City angle.

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham, Saturday 3pm

It must be so stressful being a Spurs fan. Seriously, how can they be this bad still after spending so much this summer?

They were more competitive last weekend in the defeat to Newcastle but they were so easy to score against and there is still a feeling that the players are weighed down by past failures.

Tottenham have attempted an enormous tactical and personnel reset whilst Forest do have more continuity and have shown signs of implementing Glasner’s style. They were more like a Glasner team at Anfield, secure and organised without the ball but also so dangerous to stop when they decided to press forward almost as a front five with the full-backs pushing on.

There is an expectation that Morgan Gibbs-White’s output is going to grow under this manager and he got off the mark at Anfield. He’s had at least a shot on target in his last four starts against Tottenham and averages 1.05 per game since the start of last season. Combining him to have a shot on target and Forest to avoid defeat rates as a decent wager at 10/11 with Sky Bet.

Hull vs Aston Villa, Saturday 5.30pm, live on Sky Sports

Hull have won their opening two games and are yet to concede a goal. Of course, they’ve done it with the backdrop of losing the expected goals battle in both matches. Some things never change.

However, as someone who lives and dies by the data from an analytical point of view there remains a strong possibility that the Tigers will hit a wall in terms of their form. It should start here.

I’m anticipating Unai Emery to get Aston Villa going again pretty sharpish.

September is his favourite month. His record in September in the Premier League is just one defeat from 18 matches, winning 11.

Emery has also never lost a game with Villa against a promoted side, winning 15 of the 21 matches and in their last nine games away from home against a newly promoted side they have scored 23 goals. The 17/20 on offer for the away win with Sky Bet is one of the best bets of the weekend.

Everton endured a Deadline Day to forget. However, although they have a weaker squad, their starting XI may actually be stronger than what the market assumes.

And playing Manchester United at home could be exactly what they need right now. A proper siege mentality game is classic David Moyes where the fans will be on board with the pragmatic approach to get a result. Remember, it’s the hierarchy who they have turned on – not the players or Moyes.

Ipswich competed well with United up until Harry Maguire’s controversial goal which then allowed Michael Carrick’s team to flow and take advantage of lots of space.

Everton are almost the opposite opponent to Ipswich. They will make this very difficult.

Arsenal vs Chelsea, Sunday 4.30pm, live on Sky Sports

Are the market giving enough respect to Arsenal here?

The home win at 4/6 with Sky Bet is going to tempt a lot of punters in.

Arsenal will make this a typically Arsenal game where they look to control transitions, defend with ultra organisation and take advantage when their moments come. They’ll be confident of stopping the Chelsea front three, who have been electric but it’s too early to be calling them a serious team.

In that same 18-game run Arsenal have kept 10 clean sheets. Levels.
