2026 has been a roller-coaster of a year for Guy Ritchie, who found success with his first project of the year in Young Sherlock. Prime Video dropped all eight episodes of Young Sherlock as a binge back in March, and the show spent months at the top of streaming charts on its way to scoring a rare Season 2 renewal. Young Sherlock Season 2 is now in production, and it’s expected to return to streaming before the end of next year. Ritchie did not find the same level of success with his first theatrical release of the year, In The Grey, despite the combined star power of Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film bombed at the box office, but it has found redemption on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV as one of the most-watched titles in the world.
One of Guy Ritchie’s most frequent collaborators of the years has been Jason Statham — the duo have worked together on five movies, and they have a new action thriller coming to theaters next year. After Statham made his feature acting debut in the Ritchie-directed crime caper, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the duo worked together again just a few years later on Snatch, the epic boxing drama/crime thriller that also stars Brad Pitt. More than 25 years after Snatch put together over $80 million at the box office during its theatrical run, the film has landed a home streaming for free on Pluto TV. What Is ‘Snatch’ About?
The official synopsis for Snatch, which also stars Stephen Graham and Benicio del Toro, reads as follows: “London’s criminal underworld erupts into chaos when a stolen diamond, a rigged boxing match, and a ruthless crime boss collide. Turkish (Jason Statham) and Tommy scramble to control unlicensed fighter Mickey (Brad Pitt) while gypsy brawlers, gun-toting gangsters, and a diamond-obsessed thief tear through London. Guy Ritchie’s razor-sharp crime caper weaves outrageous characters and interlocking schemes into a wild, blackly comic ride.” Snatch was later remade into a TV series in 2017 starring Rupert Grint, famed for his role in the Harry Potter franchise. The film is the perfect mash-up of Fargo and Pulp Fiction, as it takes elements of organized crime and mixes it with interweaving stories that come together perfectly at the end.
