Chelsea already ‘open to sale’ of new signing with history of fan conflict
Twenty-three-year-old Dutch centre-forward Emmanuel Emegha officially finalised his €25 million (£21m) transfer to Stamford Bridge from French outfit RC Strasbourg this summer, wrapping up a deal that was pre-agreed between the two BlueCo-owned clubs months in advance.
However, Emegha’s arrival at Chelsea comes following a turbulent spell in France which ended with public friction and fan backlash.
The pre-arranged move to Stamford Bridge proved an unpopular one among Strasbourg supporters, who have protested against BlueCo’s multi-club model.

There were also accusations that the player had treated the Ligue 1 team as a mere stepping stone, despite being the club captain.
Emegha’s time in Alsace featured multiple behavioural flashpoints, including a formal one-match club suspension imposed by Strasbourg hierarchy for ‘non-compliance with internal standards, rules, and values’.
The striker was also involved in intense post-match confrontations at the stadium perimeter fence with supporters following Strasbourg’s UEFA Conference League semi-final exit, requiring teammates and staff to physically intervene and lead him away from the hostile crowd.
Despite investment in his potential, Chelsea are reportedly ready to listen to proposals for the forward, as per Romano.
Stamford Bridge is already well-stocked in the centre-forward position, where Nicolas Jackson returns to following a loan spell with Bayern Munich. Alongside him, there are options like Joao Pedro, Marc Guiu, Liam Delap and soon Danny Welbeck.
With Emegha’s history, Chelsea appear willing to cut ties early rather than risk squad disharmony before the Dutchman has even kicked a ball.
