So read on to discover our handpicked selection of the greatest Harlan Coben Netflix series you can binge in a weekend.
1
‘The Innocent’ (2021)
Adapted from the novel of the same name, The Innocent is a Spanish thriller miniseries directed by award-winning director Oriol Paulo and produced by Coben, which centers on a young man named Mateo whose life takes an unfortunate turn after he accidentally kills a man. Years later, when Mateo tries to restart his life with his wife, Olivia, a strange phone call brings his past back to haunt him, forcing him to revisit his dark past. The series stars Mario Casas, Alexandra Jiménez, Aura Garrido, and José Coronado in main roles.
Arguably one of the most underrated Spanish shows on Netflix, The Innocent is a stylish crime thriller that elevates the original novel by setting it in a completely different world and redesigning the characters. The show’s complex, non-linear narrative heavily reflects Oriol Paulo’s filmmaking and storytelling style rather than Coben’s authorship. Well-directed, well-acted, and thematically intense, The Innocent uses its sustained tension to capture the audience’s attention, making it truly addictive from start to finish.
2
‘Missing You’ (2025)
Created by Victoria Asare-Archer and starring Rosalind Eleazar as the central protagonist, Missing You follows Kat Donovan, a detective who comes across her ex-fiancé, Josh, while browsing a dating app. The problem: he has been missing for over a decade. As Kat begins to investigate his sudden reappearance, her search leads her down the rabbit hole of a larger, more complex mystery related to her father’s murder. Richard Armitage, Ashley Walters, Jessica Plummer, and Steve Pemberton play other important characters.
While Missing You is definitely an important addition to Netflix’s Harlan Coben Collection, it does not hold up to the acclaim of Coben’s original novel. The British adaptation changes several key points, including character dynamics and the final moment, which alters the impact of the original story. However, Missing You still manages to challenge the viewer at certain points in the story and thrills with major plot twists that might excite a genre fan.
3
‘Fool Me Once’ (2023)
Adapted by Danny Brocklehurst from Coben’s 2016 bestseller, Fool Me Once is a British mystery thriller miniseries that centers on Maya, a former military pilot grieving her recently deceased husband, Joe, until she spots him on her nanny cam, alive and secretly visiting their baby. Searching for the truth, Maya unravels a complex web of dark secrets involving Joe’s wealthy family, which connect to the mysterious death of her sister. Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar, Dino Fetscher, Richard Armitage, and Joanna Lumley star in key roles.
Fool Me Once is quite a twisted murder mystery thriller, and uses the author’s signature style of double-twists and mysterious disappearances to its advantage. Though it’s a bit light on logic and believability, the miniseries is very exciting and entertaining, with just the right amount of tension, action, and mystery. When it was released, Fool Me Once was widely praised for Keegan and Lumley’s terrific performances and became Netflix’s largest series debut, and since then has ranked among the top screen adaptations of Harlan Coben’s stories.
4
‘The Stranger’ (2020)
The first Harlan Coben book to have an English-language series adaptation, The Stranger is a British mystery miniseries based on his 2015 novel of the same name, following a mysterious woman in her 20s who approaches a family man named Adam Price and tells him a secret about his wife. Burdened with this strange and shocking information about his personal life, Adam tries to confront his wife, but she soon goes missing. Hanna John-Kamen plays the titular character and Richard Armitage stars as Adam, with Dervla Kirwan, Siobhan Finneran, Jacob Dudman, and Anthony Head as other main characters.
The Stranger marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Richard Armitage and Harlan Coben, who appears in most of his shows. The eight-part Netflix series is very suspenseful and thrilling right from the first few scenes and grips you with mounting tension and major cliffhangers. Though not as addictive as the original novel, The Stranger can definitely be ranked among the most binge-worthy and popular Netflix mystery thriller shows of the 2020s.
5
‘Run Away’ (2026)
A British miniseries developed by Danny Brocklehurst from Coben’s novel, Run Away follows Simon Greene, an investment banker who desperately searches for his runaway daughter, Paige. Simon’s relentless search for Paige lands him in the dangerous underbelly of the criminal world, his life quickly spiraling through murder, assassins, and a violent cult that threatens Paige’s life and everything he holds dear. The series stars James Nesbitt, Alfred Enoch, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver, and Ellie de Lange in main roles.
One of the most faithful screen translations of Coben’s books, Run Away is a twisty, fast-paced thriller that excites the audience enough to want to quickly move through the episodes and find out the answers waiting at the end. The first Harlan Coben show of 2026, the Netflix miniseries has been praised for Nesbitt’s committed lead performance as the harrowed father and ranks among the most well-crafted series adaptations of Harlan Coben’s bestselling novels.
6
‘I Will Find You’ (2026)
Created by Robert Hull, I Will Find You is the latest addition to the Harlan Coben Collection on Netflix, and stars Sam Worthington as David, a former law professor wrongfully convicted and given a life sentence for the murder of his son, Matthew. Five years later, his ex-wife’s sister reaches out to him with information proving that Matthew may still be alive, putting David on a risky path to find the truth. Other main characters are played by Britt Lower, Jasper Rainn Lawrence, and Milo Ventimiglia.
I Will Find You is the first series adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel to be set in the United States, which is the original story’s setting. While the miniseries did not earn mainstream popularity or high critical acclaim (receiving generally mixed reviews, unlike his other regional adaptations), it premiered to huge global viewership numbers. Though it might be one of the weaker Coben adaptations, between its far-fetched plotlines and a high-stakes cat-and-mouse chase, I Will Find You makes for an entertaining thriller series, largely thanks to its strong cast.
7
‘Stay Close’ (2021)
Based on Coben’s 2012 novel and written by Danny Brocklehurst and Mick Ford, Stay Close is an eight-part British mystery miniseries that follows the lives of four seemingly unrelated characters from different locations who are connected through dark secrets from the past. After a sudden disappearance in the present day that mirrors a cold case from 17 years ago, jaded police sergeant Michael Broome sets out to solve it, upending the comfortable lives of those four people and unearthing a decade-long mystery. Cush Jumbo, Richard Armitage, Sarah Parish, and James Nesbitt play the four main characters.
Featuring a tightly-knit plot, spectacular cast, and a strong character-driven narrative, Stay Close is a good example of a well-made miniseries that engages the audience with relentless tension and binge-worthy pacing. The series was a massive success when it was released and earned critical acclaim for the outstanding performances of Jumbo and Nesbitt, as well as the rest of the main cast. Stay Close has since remained the second-highest-rated Harlan Coben show on Rotten Tomatoes, following The Innocent.

‘Safe’ (2018)
The first thriller miniseries created by Harlan Coben himself, Safe paved the way for an entire library to his name on Netflix. Michael C. Hall stars as Tom Delaney, a surgeon and widowed father of two daughters who is grappling with the loss of his wife, who recently died of cancer. When one of his teenage daughters goes missing, Tom frantically starts searching for her while uncovering a web of family secrets in the process. Amanda Abbington, Audrey Fleurot, Amy James-Kelly, Marc Warren, and Hannah Arterton star in other notable roles.
A skillfully crafted, highly sinister thriller, Safe is often considered the finest screen adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel. Packed with tension, clues, and cliffhangers, Safe is a fun, fast-paced, bingeable thriller made worthwhile by its strong ensemble cast and their compelling performances. The series earned largely mixed reviews when it first premiered on Netflix in 2018, earning praise for the casting, the performances, and the addictive mystery, but also some criticism for Michael C. Hall’s rather divisive English accent.
