World Cup 2026: Who has been eliminated from the tournament so far?
Of the 48 nations competing at the 2026 World Cup, 40 have now been eliminated following the conclusion of the group stage, round of 32 and round of 16.
From the first 16 to exit, 12 finished bottom of their respective groups.
The Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama all finished as fourth-placed sides in the group.
Iran, South Korea, Scotland and Uruguay were also knocked out as the four third-placed sides with the worst records in the group stage.
South Africa, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Sweden, Ecuador, DR Congo, Senegal, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Austria, Cape Verde, Australia, Algeria and Ghana all departed after losing in the round of 32.
Eight teams have also exited from the round of 16, with Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, the United States, Egypt and Colombia all leaving at this stage.
